In case you missed it, Sunday was Mother’s Day and hubby came all the way through for me. YAAASSS! I would say somebody took notes from my gifts ideas for Mother’s Day post but anyone who knows my husband knows that he is all sorts of EXTRA and really doesn’t need me to dream up his own idea of how to make any occasion special.
It is no secret that I have been a bit overwhelmed since Miss Corona came and unleashed her virus on us. So, if there was ever a time I needed to be pampered, it was this year. Our celebration was also super special because Garfield’s mom got to spend Mother’s Day in Jamaica for the first time in years.
Who doesn't like to wake up to mimosas and the sweet aroma of breakfast floating up the stairs? With Chef Kathy's help, hubby presented us with the most delectable breakfast, lunch and dinner.
But it didn't just stop at food. Since we can't go to the spa, there was a spa day set up for us complete with a massage bed and Mani-Pedi station. God knows I needed this.
On behalf of my mom-in-love and I, we want to publicly say a big thank you to an awesome husband and son.
Of course, our little diva Miss Jordan had to run in on the fun, but hey, she made me a mother!
What was your quarantine Mother’s Day celebration like?

Netflix and Chill
Just admit it, you have been binge watching Netflix.
Have you watched Sprinter yet?
One word: Grillmaster. Or is that two words?
Sprinter is now on Netflix (including Netflix for Jamaica). Basically, it’s a movie about 17-year-old Akeem Sharp who is set to be the next big track star but has to overcome a few hurdles which may derail his bright future. It’s authentically Jamaican exploring issues such as:
- Barrel Kid Syndrome - the mother goes abroad and has been there for 10 years as an illegal immigrant as she tries to make a better life for her family.
- Scamming - Of course, Jamaica has become popular for it's scamming especially of North Americans and this movie does a great job of capturing that experience.
- Rising star athlete - Both Akeem and his older brother are track stars. I love how they use his older brother to tell the story of what really happens (injuries, etc) to some Jamaican athletes who take up track scholarships abroad.
- Divorce - A real look at how families are broken up even as one partner leaves in search of a better life.
You may also check out Dutty Berry’s review.
I think Sprinter has earned its place with the likes of Harder They Come, Dancehall Queen and Shottas in the Jamaican Hall of Fame for films. I thoroughly enjoyed it. Let me know your thoughts?
